Software Setup


Details

In this lesson, we will be working with Obsidian, a cross-platform note-taking and knowledge management tool. Below are the setup instructions for different operating systems.

  1. Download the Obsidian installer for Windows from the Obsidian website.
  2. Double-click the downloaded installer file to start the installation process.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  4. Once installed, launch Obsidian from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
  1. Download the Obsidian installer for macOS from the Obsidian website.
  2. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
  3. Drag the Obsidian app icon into the Applications folder.
  4. Once copied, navigate to the Applications folder and double-click on Obsidian to launch it.
  1. Download the Obsidian AppImage or Debian package for Linux from the Obsidian website.
  2. If you downloaded the AppImage, make it executable by running chmod +x Obsidian-*.AppImage in the terminal.
  3. Double-click the AppImage file or run ./Obsidian-*.AppImage in the terminal to launch Obsidian.
  4. If you downloaded the Debian package, you can install it using your system’s package manager, e.g., sudo apt install ./obsidian-*.deb.
